Purify the Earth with wood pellets.
There are two very different strategies of bioenergy industry. If we take Sweden, there is a basic strategy which is rooted in the production of briquettes and wood pellets. In this case only wood waste such as shavings, sawdust, tree tops, and bark can be used for the production of pellets. A different strategy is used in Finland. Here homogeneous wood is mainly used. You can burn wood pellets by using different equipment if you wish. The maximum efficiency can be obtained by using burning boilers, burners and so on. Boilers and burners must be designed to work with this type of biological fuel. Wood pellets are characterized by low humidity which is up to 10% and their high calorific value of about 4,8-4,9 MW.
The process of obtaining energy from pellets is held at a relatively low temperature and the process is characterized by a low flow velocity. With this boiler, even after the fuel in the container over, there’s an ability to provide us with heat for next 24 hours. Now let’s look closer at parts of machines for burning fuel pellets. In most cases they consist of such parts as the heater, the fuel depot, the conveyor for fuel from the hopper to the burner and the pellet burner as well.
More than half of boilers are characterized by the heating capacity of 0,1-1 MW. They are used in schools, in large private homes and so on.
Once the industry was born, the production of pellets and briquettes immediately took a landmark for export. In most cases manufacturers of this eco friendly stuff tend to put their enterprises near ports if they are oriented on the export. However, warmer winters may lead to the instability of this business, so manufacturers must take a closer look at the domestic market, which can be profitable for selling a part of the produced goods. The main consumers of pellets in the domestic market pellets are owners of small boilers and household boilers. From my point of view it’s the most advantageous fuel for small houses and cottages especially if they are deprived of gas supply.
To my mind this century is the century of wood pellets. In fact I should say that prices for wood pellets are quite affordable for 1 ton of pellets. By the way many people tell that two tons of this fuel will be enough for winter. It goes without saying that the internal market will also grow at the expense of industrial consumers. The main thing is that the process of purification of our planet has already started. And wood pellets can be considered to be the essential tool to carry this out. I advise you to join this process of purification.
It is really amazing how talented humans get when the time comes to be more well-balanced about energy. The energy crisis that is promised to ahead pushed many people to inventing alternative ways of taking care of energy issues. One of the examples – wood pellets which are really great and ecologically smart.
Discover more about how easy the switch on wood pellets can be, and how it can help you. For the knowledge about wood pellets, please go to this website.
For so many years people have been using fossil fuels such as gas, coal and oil to generate energy, except now sources of fossil fuels are depleting – and they create pollution to the environment when they are burned too. People are now realizing that we have to find other renewable energy sources. These [spin]various types of sources include solar, wind and marine energy.
One of the most used and well-known sources of renewable energy is solar power. Everyday the sun generates a vast amount of energy and that sunlight can be used to convert into electricity using various technologies. It can be collected by solar collectors. These are the heat-absorbing panels that you see on many rooftops. The way these solar collectors work is that they absorb solar energy and convert it to heat energy. Water is heated by the heat energy and then stored in tanks. Solar collectors are used to heat the water in your home and to heat swimming pool. Both uses take advantage of the same technologies.
Wind power is another main sources of renewable energy. The energy contained in the wind comes indirectly from the sun, that is the sun heats the surface of the atmosphere which causes the wind to blow. Wind power is preferred to the use of fossil fuels as it does not produce any greenhouse gases and it is an abundant resource. Wind energy is not a new initiative. Wind power was initially being used to generate electricity by the ancient Egyptians and by the beginning of the 20th century wind power was widely used in Europe, particularly Denmark. However it was the introduction of cheap oil and gas that ruined the wind power industry. It is only at this time that people are getting interested in wind power once again because of the issues with pollution and green house gas emissions.
Scientists are working at developing technologies that obtain energy/power from the tides and the waves. Marine energy is therefore another of the main renewable energy sources. As an energy source it is sustainable and has very little effect on the environment. Using water to generate energy is a relatively new idea and there are no commercial wave energy devices on the market at the moment. But, there is some technology that is being used and experimented. One such technology that is producing power on the Scottish island of Islay is an equipment called a LIMPET. More and more technologies are being developed all the time. Look out for any new innovations in marine energy technology next time you pick up the newspaper or an environmental magazine.
Geothermal energy is the last in the sources of renewable energy that is going to be mentioned in this article. The simplest way to make full use of geothermal energy is by salt water and steam that is trapped in the many layers of rock below the earth’s core. Natural hot springs are the most popularized type of geothermal energy that has been utilized in the last few centuries. But, geothermal heat pumps are the new “it“ energy product. Even though geothermal energy is sustainable, it is not readily available. This is because not everybody lives by a geothermal reservoir and that often the technology is far too expensive. It’s nice we have the option though.

For many years fossil fuels like coal and oil have been the only sources of our energy consumption. But, in the last few years people have realized what effect the continual burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil is doing to our environment and want a cleaner, greener future. The obvious choice is alternative solar energy because this type of energy is self-renewing and creates no pollution. The sun actually produces sufficient energy to power the universe fully. Then why is not everyone using alternative solar energy to power his or her households? The main reason is that the technology is too expensive at this point in time, but as new technologies develop and fossil fuels become more scarce and costly, people will realise that clean energy is a much cheaper and better option.
Alternative solar energy is the ideal choice for taking advantage of the sun’s power. As long as the sun is bright enough to read a book or write your journal, it is in fact bright enough to radiate alternative solar energy. Many people only think that solar energy can be utilized as a power source in places where it is hot and constantly sunny. This is not really the case – it does not really matter how hot it is, you just require the brightness of the sun for this energy alternative. Solar heating works in cold places because there is still some brightness from the sun.
As stated above a enormous amount of energy is available in the sun’s rays, however it is difficult to use this energy to its full potential due to the high costs involved in introducing a new technology. There is a significant amount of research and development in finding methods to turn solar energy into electrical energy. The current system that is in place is not affordable for many people, and the process of turning solar energy into electrical energy currently means that energy is actually lost in the process. If you are keen in using alternative solar energy and plan to introduce it slowly into your daily energy consumption, you can. You could install a solar collector on your roof and this will absorb enough of the sun’s rays to heat water. The hot water can be stored in a container and used for cooking and showers.
Another way that you can make use of alternative solar energy is by using a solar collector to heat your swimming pool. Lots of people set up a solar collector on the roof of their garage or pool-changing shed and you can heat your pool by harnessing the sun’s rays, hence allowing you to swim in your pool during the colder months as well without catching a chill.
In summary there are quite a number of alternative solar energy technologies that are known to work to reduce the amount of fossil fuels consumed. But suppliers of conventional fuel and electricity are against alternative energy options as they view them as not viable economically. It is up to you to choose if you want to continue to use conventional fossil fuels and polluting the environment in the long run, or are willing to make some changes to your current energy consumption and live in a clean, green world that is free of terrible pollutants.

Composting with worms is really not that hard at all to do . Red wiggler worms ( manure worms , tiger worms etc etc . ),the most common type of composting worms , are available are very forgiving little creatures .Jeff at Lone Star Worms will help us out
We will want to begin our journey of compost , with the bin .
Worms are not picky like us. They will live in about any decent environment . I suggest for a beginner that the easiest route to take is to use a Rubbermaid style plastic tote either of the 10 or 18 gallon variety .The bin we will be making will be a simple one layer bin . I would advise that you choose one that is not clear , as the worms do not like light . If this is too hard to come by such things as 5 gallon buckets will work or wooden crates cut to size will work fine . really the main thing is to find something that is not clear and that the worms will have room . I would advise at least 6 inches in depth and if you are a typical beginner a square footage ( length x width ) of around 2-2.5 to begin . The reason I give this advice is that composting worms need surface area more than anything . Red wiggler do not need great depth like there garden worm cousin there more of a surface dweller .In general for every square foot of surface area you have you will need one pound of worms .
A step that you may want to take but is not absolutely need is to drill a hole on the bottom to allow drainage of moisture . Be sure to place it where the water ca drain easily and not get stuck . And since you have the drill out drilling some holes along the top under the rim of the tote will allow for air which will be helpful to the worms in making the compost .
Now that you have a bin ready you need bedding . The cheapest way to make bedding is to use newspaper or cardboard . Tear them into strips about a inch wide . If you have a paper shredder this may make the job a little easier . If you do not wish to use newspaper of cardboard , peat moss can be used as well as coconut coir . Wet the bedding , then wring it out it should be damp but not dripping wet . The best way to describe it is that it should be like a sponge . Layers this for a couple of inches . This will be the worms home . A word of advice. Do all this if possible at least a week before you get your worms. Everything you can do before the worms get there is going to help them out .
Well now we have our bedding ready and it is set to go , hopefully it has been waiting for the worms . Now we need worms . Do not unless you want a really smelly mess take the worms you find outside burrowing in the ground and place them in the bin . They will die sadly . The type of worm you will likely get is called a red wiggler worm . These are perfect for composting and they can live in your bin with no issues . They are readily available over the internet and possibly locally through a local worm farmer or friend who has some they can give . I recommend that you place the worms in the bin all together and here is the hard part try to leave them alone .This is especially important when you first get them .They may try to escape . A good way to prevent that from happening is to leave a light on in their area ( remember worms don’t like light
Try not to over feed . A good rule of thumb is for every pound of worms you have they will eat about 3 pounds of food a week . The last step will give a list of good and bad worm foods .
So now we have a bin with bedding and worms in it . We have allowed them some time to adjust ( about 2-3 days if possible ) Now we feed them . Good news again worms eat about anything you will give them . Everything that is organic material they can eat . Some of those organic materials are better than others though . Here is a good list to follow .
Do Feed :
Vegetable scraps ( cut up if you can )
Fruit scraps ( be light on the citrus scraps )
Used coffee grounds and filters ( ask your local coffee shop for theirs for a good source of free food )
Newspaper and cardboard
Teabags
Leaves
Egg Shells ( good for grit )
Manure ( horse of rabbit is great for them )
Please do not feed the worms the following or be very careful with these.
Dairy and meat and fish ( these can be fed but…they stink )
Metal
Dog or cat or human feces
Wood ( it takes a long time to break down and be useful for them )
After you have fed them it is a good idea and practice to put additional layer of newspaper on top to act as a kind of filter .
Now what do we do after all is done ? Here is the beautiful part , let the worms make wonderful compost for you . Jeff says red wigglers
“Have fun” , believe it or not you will come to “love” those squirming little fellas .

Renewable energy is a possible option for many people because it reaches a point where enough is enough in terms of how much money is spent every year on electricity. Besides this nowadays we are more environmentally friendly and aware of the damage that burning fossil fuels does to the environment. The purpose of this article is to give you the some useful information on your renewable energy options.
One website which you can visit is an Australian website (greenenergysolutions.com.au) which is pretty good and it tells you all about green energy solutions. The information about getting a quotation for your house is meant for the Australian market. However there is some great information and pictures of the technologies available that you should print off and show to your local energy provider to see if they can supply the same products to you.
It is also a great idea for you to sign up for RSS feeds of any news or information that is updated and added to the Web about green energy solutions. I have read a really exciting article that came up on my RSS feed about green energy solutions and a rise in geothermal heat pump sales – these are interesting stuff and I could spend all my time reading them up.
Also, sometimes to find useful information on green energy solutions you need to click on the sponsored links. You probably have heard that in 2001 two Australian men created a generator that supplied electricity for free. That was meant to get a patent and go on the market a year later and sell for five thousand dollars. It never happened. But there is an ebook available in the market that you can buy online that teaches you how you can make your own generator just like the one invented by these two Australian men.
It is called Magniwork and it’s the ultimate free energy diy kit – it won the green energy award 2009 too. This is actually a really good book which allow anyone even if he is non-technical to be able to build their own generator from materials that are available from the local hardware store. It is great because you do not have to pay anything to the electricity company once you have built this generator to produce free electricity for your household.

Pellets will heat you up.
I’d like to draw your attention to such a promising thing as wood pellets. It’s known that during the production of fuel pellets raw materials undergo crushing and then granulating. As the result of those actions mentioned above we get shiny pellets with a smooth surface without cracks and bubbles with a light wood color and light clean smell as well as appropriate parameters.
The combustion of wood pellets in the boiler furnace runs more efficiently to compare with traditional wood logs. The number of ash isn’t more than 0, 5 – 1% of the total number of pellets burnt. It goes without saying that the combustion of wood pellets doesn’t affect negatively the environment. This environmentally friendly fuel can be ignited much easier to compare with conventional wood logs, when some paper and kerosene are required.
So as you can see wood pellets are quite popular throughout the world. Pellets are most commonly used for heating houses and cottages throughout the world. This is due to the fact that heating devices are rather easy to clean after burning this stuff. Pellets produce a very little amount of ash.
It’s known that wood pellets have a big advantage over conventional fuels. The
calorific value of this stuff is equal to 4,3 – 4,5 kW per kilogram , which is 1.5 times higher than the calorific value of wood and it’s quite comparable with coal.
The combustion of 2000 kg of fuel pellets is equal to the same amount of heat energy produced by the combustion of 3200 kg of wood, 957 m3 of gas, 1,000 liters of diesel fuel, and 1,370 liters of fuel oil.
So we consider this stuff to be the “fuel of the future”. What is the reason for the increased interest to this fuel? First, wood pellets are safe raw materials made of wood. While oil and gas grow in value every year wood pellets are quite affordable. Secondly, wood pellets have a high energy density at low volumes occupied. Also, pellets can be transported quite easily and incinerated in automatic furnaces. Thirdly, the ash left from the combustion of wood pellets can used as a fertilizer. In general the amount of ash approaches to 1% of the mass of fuel. The ash is utilized in the current furnaces and boilers once every two years. Fourthly, as wood pellets have a high bulk density they require a little volume of space for their accommodation. If you wish to heat up a living space of 150 m2 then you require about 7,5 m3 of pellets a year. So as you can see wood pellets are God’s gift. By using them you’ll contribute greatly into the process of saving our native planet. Hurry up to order a couple of tons of this stuff for coming winter.
In the list of different energy saving alternatives, we seriously recommend you to learn more about wood pellets.
Just a short list of advantages of using wood pellets. They are not high-tech; they do not need huge investments into expensive equipment; they come from mother nature. Please invest part of your time into finding out more about wood pellets – it is really vital now.
The production of wood pellets.
The process of production of pellets is the process of recycling industrial waste into solid fuel to make it suitable for combustion. The most popular material for the production of pellets is wood. Wood pellets can be manufactured from different types of waste wood and agricultural industries such as plant stalks, sawdust and wood chips, nut shells, waste left after processing of sugar cane, sunflower husks, stalks of tobacco, waste in the production of tea, wheat and various other waste materials of the agricultural industry. Furthermore I should stress that the moisture content must be no more than 12% and the size of it mustn’t exceed 55 mm.
This affair starts with shredding of waste wood. When the thickness of unprocessed wood waste for more than 10 mm, and is size is greater than 50mm then it’s not easy to crush this stuff. So for this purpose a special crushing machine is used. In this case this solid waste is crushed with the help of the hammer crusher. This crusher is able to turn this substance into the powder with a particle diameter of about 3 mm.
After this it’s high time to start the process of drying. Experts tell that the normal content of moisture in the material used for pellets is 13-15%. Have a look at the special drum for drying this stuff. It consists of two parts which are the furnace and most of its surface enabling to reduce the moisture content of the material from 60% to 10%. By the way to reduce the cost of electricity sometimes a stove, operating on sawdust can be applied. Certainly you can also use coal, gas and wood logs for this purpose if you can afford this of course. Besides this I want to add something closely connected with the process of drying. In order to prevent the leakage of heat drying drum should be covered with the film outside. This film is made of a special cotton material.
Then the process of granulation is carried out. The granulator is considered to be an essential part of all the equipment for the production of pellets from sawdust. The lubrication of the granulator is controlled by the computer that monitors the temperature of the working surfaces. So if the temperature increases violating established limits then the computer sends a signal to the lubricating system of rollers and the matrix. Thus the problem of wear of granulator moving parts is solved. By the way there’s an opportunity to lubricate moving parts manually. When the substance is passed through the matrix with holes of the established diameter pellets appear in this world. Then they should be packed and delivered to their masters. This unique stuff can make any winter become a pleasant experience.
It is really amazing how gifted humans get when the time comes to be more well-balanced about energy. The energy crisis that is promised to ahead pushed many people to inventing alternative ways of taking care of energy issues. One of the examples – wood pellets which are really great and ecologically smart.

All of us are affected by the global recession, and with the cost of fossil fuels continue to rise, many people are looking for free energy home. This is where renewable energy plays an important part. Renewable energy is an energy source such as solar, wind, water, and geothermal power that continues to replenish itself. These energy sources not only are free (the only cost involved is in the technology to set it up), but there are no environmental pollutants created either.
The sun is probably the most important source of free energy and can be utilized by either solar thermal collectors or photovoltaic technology.
Solar thermal collectors work by harnessing solar energy that is the sun’s rays, and converting them into heat energy. Water then circulates through the coils in the thermal collectors and is then stored in tanks – much like the traditional hot water system, without making use of expensive electricity. There are a few various solar collectors on the market, it actually depends on your purpose and what you wish to achieve out of the free energy home system. This includes unglazed panels and flat plate water collectors.
People install unglazed panels usually for swimming pool heating. This is because it is not so important to keep the heat in and the cold air out – it is only necessary to increase the temperature by a few degrees above the air temperature. However, flat plate water collectors are different. They are normally used for water heating in your home and because of this, it is essential that you have either single or double-glazing on the panel. There are other solar thermal collectors that are not so common, that don’t need to be described in detail here like flat plate air collectors and evacuated tube collectors. There are quite a number books and periodicals that you can read that actually provide you advice and instructions on how to make solar panels like these.
The other most familiar use of solar energy for free energy home is photovoltaic cells, just like those used in calculators. Light is turned into electricity in a semiconductor much like a computer chip. Technology is constantly improving and the market is developing rapidly. These cells provide electricity and heat homes and businesses. If used with other renewable energy sources like wind energy, photovoltaic cells can provide sufficient energy and hence remove the consumption for energy from fossil fuel sources.
The one problem with solar power is that the sun does not shine at night. The technology that exists currently doesn’t take this into consideration and therefore more research needs to be carried out to find ways to store energy during the day so that we can use solar energy as a full energy source.
It is pretty simple to make the most of free energy home whether you have a pre-established house or you are building a new house. Solar heating systems are easy to build that use standard building materials. However, if you are planning to move into a new house, look for one that makes full use of solar power and solar power technologies. Find a house that has lots of windows to keep the sunshine in during winter.

Advantages of fuel briquettes.
Among alternative sources of energy I can point out to fuel briquettes which are persistently gaining their popularity in many countries of the world.
There is no doubt that the practice of using fuel briquettes for heating is considered to be economically beneficial. Moreover these fuel briquettes are applied on an industrial scale. But briquettes are somewhat larger when compared with pellets. Moreover it’s certainly closely connected with wood, which is highly praised by users of fireplaces. It’s a good thing that wood briquettes burn with a steady flame with no sparks. They practically do not emit smoke and that’s why it’s possible to use them for indoor decorative fireplaces. Of course you can’t deny the fact that it’s a real pleasure. By the way it’s quite easy to ignite briquettes because it does not require the use of special fluids for ignition. They give a smooth flame for your pleasure. I mean the duration of combustion in this case.
I should emphasize that fans of barbecue, grilling and so on can be considered to be the main consumers of fuel briquettes. But besides those fans mentioned above ordinary people are used to set up a picnic from time to time. Moreover restaurants, cafes and even large – sized manufacturers use wood briquettes for their charcoal. The matter is that charcoal made from fuel briquettes gives a smooth flame without the risk of burning food in the grill. Of course, it’s quite clear that for cooking special wood briquettes are used which are manufactured without the use of waste coniferous trees.
It goes without saying that during the combustion of fuel briquettes such a substance as ash is formed. Generally, the amount of ash obtained from the combustion of any fuel is considered to be the indicator of quality of a corresponding heat source. And wood briquettes give no more than 1% of ash. From my point of view it is the highest achievement among solid fuels because in the process of this stuff production any additives are used. In addition to this ash, left after burning this material can be used as a good, environmentally-friendly fertilizer.
But besides this we should also take into consideration other indicators of quality of this fuel which are extremely important for all consumers of the world. For example they are convenient packaging, low weight of even a large amount of briquettes, high density and thus they can’t be demanding to the volume of space for their storage. As for their storage I can add that wood briquettes are not prone to a spontaneous combustion. The burning process is not accompanied by the formation of waste materials or dirty soot. Emissions of carbon monoxide in the atmosphere during the combustion of fuel briquettes are minimal, which is highly valued in developed countries.
In the list of different energy saving alternatives, we highly recommend you to read more about wood pellets.
This is a short list of advantages of using wood pellets. They are not high-tech; they do not need huge investments into fancy equipment; they are ecological in the heart of it. Please invest 5 minutes of your time into finding out more about wood pellets – it is really important now.
Wood briquettes against the ecological disaster.
It’s no secret that the humanity can do the only one thing best of all. I mean our eternal ability to produce litter. We are good at garbage making and it seems to me that nobody is going to outperform us on this matter. Of course it’s known that around big cities you can find a great variety of desert dumps. In other words it’s a sort of a real post – apocalyptic landscape where only flocks of crows and other unpleasant creatures can be come across. You can see tons of waste materials such as timber or paper mills. Real scaring mountains of sawdust can be stumbled over as the most common product usually left by many wood processing companies. It goes without saying that all of this stuff can’t be considered to be recycled materials. I hope that you understand that it’s impossible to incinerate this entire harmful and problematic staff because this can threaten us by numerous fires arisen as the result from the wind blowing.
Certainly because of smoldering wood dust and pillars of black smoke can reach towns and cities nearby. That’s why for many enterprises it is quite cheaper to store these waste materials rather than to pay huge fines to corresponding institutions closely connected with environmental protection. In fact the current ecological situation points out to the fact that a wide range of renewable biomass energy is considered to be the first and most important tool for producing both heat and electricity. And there’s no wonder about this because of the fact that this source is widespread and requires no special extraction costs. In fact, if you proceed with thorough calculations then you can easily find out that harvested forests replace nearly half thousand million tons of those waste materials mentioned above each year. That’s why many countries are interested in finding a proper solution of this problem. So as follows from this our trouble is to make a new environmentally friendly product, which could serve all people of the world. Thank God the solution has been recently found. I mean fuel briquettes.
Now, the market has begun to develop quite rapidly. So the consumer price of one tone of briquettes in has crept up and reached almost two hundred dollars. I should stress that this price is rather good when compared with the price of other fuels and especially when taking into consideration the cost of production. In the situation with a constant rise of oil prices, alternative energy sources of energy tend to occupy leading positions seats in policies pursued by various companies. In addition, it solves the problem of those areas, which have certain difficulties with conventional sources of energy supply. Besides this you should know that there’s another reason which is no less important. The matter is that you can’t deny the support of this alternative source of thermal energy provided by numerous governments. That’s why this environmentally friendly stuff has got quite a promising future.
It is really fantastic how gifted we are when the time comes to be more well-balanced about energy. The energy crisis that is promised to ahead pushed lots of people to inventing new ways of taking care of energy issues. One of them – wood pellets which are really great and ecologically smart.
